The Brownies have been busy over the winter term. We kicked off the year with 28 Brownies. We finished last year with a fun drumming lesson and an Elf Party in honour of Buddy!
The girls had lots of fun working as a team creating music with a lovely company from Sheffield; some of our girls got to become a conductor which you can see in the photo.
Our Elf party also had lots of activities and things to do in honour of Buddy the elf. We learnt how to make toys, spread cheer and sing loud for all to hear. We had a present wrapping relay race to see which team were the best elves!
This year so far we have been teaching the Brownies vital skills for the modern world. As part of the challenge everyone will need to complete a set of tasks. So far our girls have had an amazing language themed night with the Bexley Deaf Centre, where they had to learn basic BSL to help those around them. We also had a visit from both the air cadets and the army cadets for their job badges: the girls were taught female empowerment, leadership and ownership. We hope to finish the year off learning our inventor badge, first aid and various other badges.
Lastly the girls celebrated St Patrick’s Day by learning Irish dancing with Mulvihill Academy, making Irish paper chains and learning about limericks and making a lucky leprechaun.
Due to Coronavirus we will be postponing Brownies from 18th March until 22nd April or until we hear anything further from the Government or Girl Guiding. We have a packed Summer term full of exciting trips if we are able to go ahead with them.
5th East Wickham Brownies is also looking for a new leader for July 2021. Register your interest here: https://www.girlguiding.org.uk/get-involved/become-a-volunteer/register-your-interest/
Many thanks for your continued support.
