St Stephen’s saw the second celebration of our patronal feast day on Sunday 12th July. A joyful Mass was held at 10.30am, con-celebrated by Canon Edward and Bishop Pat, and parishioners were able to see the new altar furniture for the first time.
The usual 9.30am and 11.30am choirs collaborated, with the instrumental accompaniment of guitars, a violin, a flute, keyboard, as well as the organ, which was played by Eric for the opening and closing hymns, which were both dedicated to St Stephen. (Eric has sadly now left St Stephen’s after a stay of a few months – we wish him all the best with his next endeavours.)
After Mass, parishioners of all ages and from a number of nationalities gathered together in the hall and enjoyed an immense variety of food and drink, listened and danced to music provided by DJ Vincent, partook in quizzes (for children and adults) expertly led by Keira and Katie, as well as a rousing game of musical chairs! Like last year the weather was hot and sunny, and many participants were glad to sit outside under umbrellas or a large gazebo.
A big thank you to all who organised, decorated, cooked, gave and cleared up afterwards. A super team effort from many people from the parish who volunteered their time, skills and effort.
