For the last few years St. John’s, Welling have held a Light Party as an alternative to Halloween for primary school aged children. As they won’t be able to hold a party in the church hall this year, they have come up with an alternative.
This is what St. John’s Children and Youth Worker Linzi has to say…
This year we are unable to meet in the church building to celebrate our wonderful God and all that is light and good in our annual Light Party on 31st October, but that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate in style! We would love you and your church to take part!
We are spreading the Light Party out over three days, Thursday 29th to Saturday 31st, culminating in a fabulous fancy dress session on Saturday! What will you come as?
We’ve gone online using Zoom!
Throughout the Zoom Light Party we will be learning different promises of God and how they were true in the Bible, are true today, and will be true in the future!
Each lesson & Need to Know is based on a promise from Psalms.
Each session EVERYONE will play the large group game as we jump, duck & move side-to-side to dodge space junk as we “fly” through space.
We have three worship songs that we will probably know off-by-heart by the end of Saturday!
On Saturday evening we will all look a little strange in our fancy dress costumes (not too scary please as there will be little children present).
As well as crafts during the main Zoom Light Party sessions that we can do together, you’ll also find a wealth of activities to do on our website www.stjohnswelling.org.uk so keep checking in! You’ll find all Light Party information here, including instructions for obtaining and using Zoom and an online form for booking your kids in, which is a must. We look forward to seeing you!
