{"id":172,"date":"2020-03-20T22:23:22","date_gmt":"2020-03-20T22:23:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saintstephens.co.uk\/blog\/?p=172"},"modified":"2020-04-05T13:25:32","modified_gmt":"2020-04-05T12:25:32","slug":"brownie-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.saintstephens.co.uk\/blog\/brownie-news\/","title":{"rendered":"Brownie News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Brownies have been busy over the winter term. \u00a0We kicked off the year with 28 Brownies.\u00a0 We finished last year with a fun drumming lesson and an Elf Party in honour of Buddy!<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-175  alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.saintstephens.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Brownies_Drumming-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"194\" height=\"259\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.saintstephens.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Brownies_Drumming-225x300.jpg 225w, http:\/\/www.saintstephens.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Brownies_Drumming.jpg 720w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 194px) 85vw, 194px\" \/>The girls had lots of fun working as a team creating music with a lovely company from Sheffield; some of our girls got to become a conductor which you can see in the photo.<\/p>\n<p>Our Elf party also had lots of activities and things to do in honour of Buddy the elf.\u00a0 We learnt how to make toys, spread cheer and sing loud for all to hear. We had a present wrapping relay race to see which team were the best elves!<\/p>\n<p>This year so far we have been teaching the Brownies vital skills for the\u00a0modern\u00a0world. As part of the challenge everyone will need to complete a set of tasks. So far our girls have had an amazing\u00a0language\u00a0themed night with the Bexley Deaf Centre, where they had to learn basic BSL to help those around them.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-176  alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.saintstephens.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Brownies_Sign-Language-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"321\" height=\"241\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.saintstephens.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Brownies_Sign-Language-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.saintstephens.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Brownies_Sign-Language-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.saintstephens.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Brownies_Sign-Language.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 321px) 85vw, 321px\" \/> We also had a visit from both the air cadets and the army cadets for their job badges: the girls were taught female empowerment, leadership and ownership.
